A message to financial advisors from Michael Kay…

Thanks for visiting us at Financial Focus.

We pride ourselves on having the “best and brightest” in our industry working to serve
Financial Focus clients, all taking direction from the principles of Financial Life Planning that
animate us and our work.

As a fellow advisor, I am aware of the challenges we face every day as we work hard to build
successful, sustainable practices. Regulatory pressures, HR issues, administrative costs and long
hours at the office can cause stress and take the fun out of what drove us into this profession
originally. It’s not always easy to do business as a small firm, profitably and contentedly.

Sole practitioners and leaders of small firms face questions such as “how do I scale my business in
the most effective way possible?” and “what can I do to build a company that will have enterprise
value – a firm that will outlive me and provide an income stream during my retirement years or for
my heirs?”

And we all need to ask ourselves “do I truly have the freedom I seek, or am I held captive,
managing overhead and trying to do too much with too little intellectual and administrative support?”
